This poster is inspired by Dutch bike culture and the history of design in the Netherlands. Amsterdam showed me firsthand that cycling’s not just a mode of transportation — it’s a lifestyle.
I am a designer and screen printer with a passion for typography, architecture, and travel. I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Concordia University-Nebraska in May of 2015.
This design is based on my experience in the Netherlands. De Stijl, a Dutch art movement from the early 1900s, is a big source of inspiration for me. While I prefer simplicity, structure, and the color grey, there's just something about bright colors and abstraction that fascinates me.
While I am not currently an avid rider, the experience in Amsterdam has changed my perspective on cycling. The Netherlands is great example of how the simple act of riding a bike can have a drastic impact on a society. Oh, and 'fiets' is the Dutch word for 'bike'!
Printing posters gives me a chance get away from the computer screen and get my hands dirty. I love being immersed in every aspect of the design process, from the initial idea to the final print. It makes the final product feel so genuine.
