I went Mountain biking in Montana last summer and saw one of the biggest moons I've ever seen. Rolling mountains and tall grass everywhere. I was inspired right then and there to make a poster out of it.
I'm an illustrator and printmaker from Des Moines. I'm all about clean lines, simple color palettes, and clever compositions. I especially love working with well-known landmarks and geographic icons.
Traveling to new places has always been my biggest source of inspiration. The prints and posters I make are my small way of paying homage to the great geographical and architectural history that surrounds us. Combine all that with my love of illustrating, printmaking, and design and you've got a pretty good understanding of what gets me out of bed every day.
This is the first time I've really played with texture and layering in a screen print. I'm super happy with the result and I can't wait to explore a few other techniques.
People are surprised to learn that I don't really know how to use Adobe Illustrator. Every designer I meet thinks I'm nuts. One of these days, you guys. One of these days...
