Cast of Characters

The poster started off as a series of small character sketches in my sketchbook. I began to think about all the creatures, characters, and people you might encounter as your ride through the woods. From there I started to piece everything together. I imagined the page was a forest and I gave each creature a section to dwell.

Shiny Object

The line-based design was created in Adobe Illustrator. Everything on the page was made with only 3 line weights and patterns which allow for tint and shade variation in the color. I used three ink colors, including a special metallic copper. Move the ink around and watch it shine.

Bikes and Blossoms

I grew up going mountain biking in the North Georgia woods. It was a hobby my late father and I shared. I have one memory of us riding through a tunnel of dogwood trees (native to Georgia) which grow these giant white blossoms and as we rode down they all seemed to fall at the same time. I felt like we were about to witness a Japanese samurai battle.
