Last Days of Summer II

About this Poster

When we were younger, bikes symbolized freedom. Bike time meant summertime, no school, and late nights. By its very nature, riding a bike is something you do alone and it’s part of finding your independence.

Meet Arsenal Handicraft

Detroit, Michigan USA

Arsenal Handicraft goods are made by the husband and wife team of Dennis and Christina Jacobs. We work out of our small home studio where we agonize over every tiny detail, illustrating and printing each piece from beginning to end.

Back Story

Collaborative Effort

Almost all of our prints are a collaboration. Christina came up with the initial composition. Dennis did most of the illustration with Christina offering art direction. She mixed the ink colors and we both printed it.

Pop Goes the Paper

This print is uses three colors of blue ink. We wanted the yellow light to really pop, so we decided to print on yellow paper instead of printing yellow ink on blue paper, which would result in the yellow would look muted.

Inspiration Just Ahead

We both enjoy riding our bikes, especially in the short summers here in Michigan. We’re inspired by nature, so we ride along the nature paths by our house. It’s a great way find inspiration and clear our heads.
