Track Stand

About this Poster

If you are a commuter or cycle on busy streets, track stands can be quite helpful. A “track stand” is that momentary position a biker takes in midst of yielding. This tests the skills of balance. The image is a whimsical take on utilizing the renowned Stone Arch Bridge as the balance beam of testing a skilled biker’s track stand. Ultimately, it melds together the Minneapolis cycling scene with local landmarks.

Back Story

Totally '80s

I grew up in the '80s, and I draw from the styles of that era. Bold, graphic '80s art, like skateboard graphics, comic books, and heavy metal album art are some of my biggest stylistic influences. The content of my work comes in large part from my hobbies (bike riding, spending time outdoors), and what I love about living in Minnesota.

Friends With Matching Outfits

I’m in a cycling gang called The Gents. It’s a group of friends in matching outfits that go bike riding! Our motto is “slow and low, that is the tempo.”

You're The Boss

The best idea I have had while riding a bike was to quit my day job and take my studio practice full-time.
