About this Poster

I created several designs that were very complex and kept getting busier and busier. Needing a break from all the chaos, I tried a very clean and simple design and it just clicked. I feel that way about riding a bike as it allows you to leave the craziness of life behind for a moment while you enjoy the ride.

About

I am a Minneapolis based graphic designer and printmaker. I love screen printing because I can combine design and photography with getting messy in the studio. Lately I have developed a new passion for photography. My work is starting to reflect that as more and more pieces are based on photos I've taken. I tend to make art about things I love. This includes the outdoors, Twin Cities architecture, sports, music and cycling. I hand print all of my work in my custom made studio.

Harmonic Transitions

Printing three colors at once (split fountain technique) is always fun as the inks blend naturally on press. This can be very messy and patience testing, but the end result is always worth it. Using primary colors makes for very harmonic color transitions.

Thrilled And Terrified

I know its cliché, but going fast down a hill has thrilled and terrified me since I was a little boy. I'm probably more scared now than ever.

Confidence Changes Everything

I had been a struggling meteorology student at SCSU when I took a entry level drawing class. My professor, Bruce Tapola, was always very encouraging and inspiring. One of our first days of class he just looked at me and said, "You need to be a graphic designer." I never really thought of it as a career path until that point, but the confidence he showed in me changed my life forever.
