Growing up in the '80s as a sci-fi geek, TRON was one of the staples of my upbringing. I thought it would be fun to combine that with my love of biking, and reimagine the iconic motorcycle scenes of the movie with traditional bikes.
I've always been drawn to posters and screen printing as my perfect intersection of art and design. I like to focus on the ideas behind my posters, and let the concept drive the style and spirit of the work. I love experimenting with new styles and techniques, challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone, and getting my hands dirty.
I had a ton of fun recreating Minneapolis in the style and spirit of the virtual world of TRON. It's the little details in design that excite me, so I enjoyed adding all of the easter egg-like elements in the poster for the viewer to find.
One of the reasons that I bike is that it lets me soak in so much of the world around you, and I often get inspiration from my journeys. I also get inspired by seeing new art styles or techniques that I've never tried before, and I get motivated to test them out for myself.
I grew up in the hustle and bustle of downtown NYC, and eventually wound up here in Minneapolis. Some people are surprised to think that I would leave all that behind, but I really feel Minneapolis is the perfect blend of everything I need, and I truly love it here.
