Bebe the Saboteur

About this Poster

I have a kitten named Bebe who is now 7 months old, and likes to bite everything. So when my friend suggested “a bicycle built for Bebe” as my theme, I thought, “Bebe wouldn’t ride a bicycle, she’d bite it.

Back Story

Cat Bites Tire

I went through many iterations before I decided on the 3/4 bike view, with Bebe biting the back tire. The blue swirls in the background were originally going to be air being let out of the tire, but I decided to keep just three little puffs of air and let the swirls be a background pattern instead.

Four Colors, Straight Up

I ended up with four colors: cyan blue with some white, yellow with a bit of magenta mixed in, straight process magenta, and the light green color (for the air puffs). No special techniques, just straightforward screen printing.

Transportation With Style

I don’t get to ride very often, even though I would like to! Bikes are great because they are such a personal form of transportation, and each one is unique; there are so many styles. The aesthetic opportunities are endless.
